Maria Manuela Mendez, Associate Editor

María Manuela Méndez acquires a range of nonfiction and fiction. For nonfiction, she is interested in history with a contemporary take, popular culture, and memoirs. For fiction, she is looking for character-driven commercial fiction, specifically magical realism, multigenerational family sagas, and romance. As a born and raised Boricua, she also loves anything related to Puerto Rico. Her titles include Theater Kid by Jeffrey Seller, Renegade Grief by Carla Fernandez, Been There, Done That by Greg Jackson, and The Story of Us by Olivia Levin. Maria started her career at Simon & Schuster in 2019 after she graduated with honors from DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. She also attended the NYU Summer Publishing Institute and completed a master’s degree in publishing at NYU.
