Jonathan Cox acquires a range of nonfiction and select fiction. He has published a number of bestsellers and award winners, includingOn Trails by Robert Moor, winner of the 2018 William Saroyan International Prize for Writing, and We Begin Our Ascent by Joe Mungo Reed, a New York Times Editors’ Choice. His upcoming books include Saeed Jones’s debut memoir, How We Fight for Our Lives, and projects by philosopher Martha Nussbaum, MacArthur Award-winning journalist Jerry Mitchell, acclaimed podcast hosts Anna Sale and Lulu Miller, and many more. Jon’s interests include history, biography, philosophy, science, nature, technology, justice, politics, and smart pop-culture writing. He is drawn to a variety of styles, from narrative journalism to rigorous history to literary essay. He is looking for writers who, in one way or another, are asking big questions about how our world works and how to live in it. Jon has been at Simon & Schuster since 2012, when he began as an assistant to Alice Mayhew, working with writings including Doris Kearns Goodwin, Walter Isaacson, and Bob Woodward. He is a graduate of Middlebury College.
