Melia previously worked at Flatiron Books, and Henry Holt, before joining Gallery Books where he edits and acquires upmarket commercial fiction, memoir, narrative nonfiction, celebrity and pop culture. Melia’s list at Gallery will begin with the highly anticipated publication of Pretty Boys are Poisonous by Megan Fox, and L.M. Chilton’s debut novel Swiped. Notable books he has edited include The People We Hate at the Wedding by Grant Ginder (made into the major motion picture starring Kristen Bell, Allison Janney, and Ben Platt), Rebecca Serle’s The Dinner List, and Margarita Montimore’s national bestselling Oona Out of Order (a GMA Bookclub selection). James published Ron Stallworth’s #1 New York Times bestselling memoir Black Klansman, and Gary Janetti’s instant New York Times bestsellers Do You Mind If I Cancel? and Start Without Me. Melia edited Mariah Carey's #1 bestselling memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey, and in 2021 Melia published Dave Quinn’s #1 New York Times bestselling Not All Diamonds and Rosé, along with Andy Cohen’s bestselling Glitter Every Day and The Daddy Diaries.
