Judith Curr, Publisher
As publisher and founder of Howard Books, Judith has ultimate responsibility for all the editorial, publishing, and marketing activities of the Howard imprint. Judith believes in creating books that are physically beautiful and that can help to shape the culture in positive, constructive ways. She was the guiding force behind publishing the international phenomenon The Secret by Rhonda Byrne (more than sixteen million copies sold). Judith is an industry leader in adopting new technologies and developing innovative marketing strategies. She currently teaches a course at New York University called “From Writer to Reader: An Introduction to Book Publishing” (spring semester). In just ten years, she has overseen Atria’s growth into a consistently successful and forward-thinking division within legendary publishing powerhouse Simon & Schuster, Inc. A native of Australia, Judith has been an executive in American publishing since 1996.
Philis Boultinghouse, Senior Editor
Philis has worked with Howard Books almost since its inception, beginning in 1985. In the early days, she was honored to work with the “Granddaddy” of Howard Books, Alton Howard, and then with his son, John Howard. She authored a few of the bestselling Hugs series and various gift books. Since Howard was bought by Simon and Schuster in 2006, Philis has enjoyed serving as a Senior Editor on several New York Times bestselling books, including many of the Duck Dynasty books, books by Dr. Charles Stanley, and the Duggar Family. She has also worked as editor for authors such as Senator Joe Lieberman, Donald Miller, Sarah Bessey, Brad Paisley, Dr. Henry Cloud, Chip Ingram, Andy Stanley, Point of Grace, Steve Brown, Tony Campolo, and many more. Even after more than 30 years, Philis loves bringing books to reality.
Beth Adams, Senior Editor
Beth Adams joined Howard Books in May of 2012. Before that, she worked at Guideposts and Random House. She graduated from Princeton and has a master’s degree in English from New York University. She is the author or co-author of thirty-something novels under various pen names, which she will reveal for the right price. She lives in Brooklyn with her family.
Kristen O’Neal, Editorial Assistant
Kristen O’Neal graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in English in 2015. She assists Beth Adams and Philis Boultinghouse on faith-based fiction and nonfiction. She’s also a freelance writer, focusing on religion and culture.
